Recent and very interesting stories in the North Bay Business Journal described the success entrepreneurs found by winning government contracts through qualifying for the Small Business Administration 8(a) Business Development Program ["The 8(a) Program -- named for Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act – is a business development program created to help small disadvantaged businesses compete in the market place. It is also designed to assist such companies in gaining access to federal and private procurement markets."] The Federal Technology Center in Sacramento helped one business owner qualify for the 8(a) Program. The mission of the FTC is “to promote economic development by facilitating technology transfer between government and the private sector, and by helping small businesses successfully compete for government contracts.”
