The Digital Bookmobile is coming to Sonoma County!

4/21 – Petaluma Regional Library
4/22 – Rohnert Park-Cotati Library
4/23 – Northwest Santa Rosa Library

The Digital Bookmobile tour brings an 18-wheeler packed full of high tech, where you can try out and learn about services like our downloadable audiobooks. The tour passes through California in April and May.

If you haven’t tried out our downloadable audiobooks yet, visit the Digital Bookmobile to learn more about them–and to test drive some of the gadgets you can use to play audiobooks!

For kids, some of our spring event highlights: Spring Break Special Movie, Cartooning Jam, magic shows, Traveling Lantern Theatre presents Robin Hood, after-school EcoKids.

For adults, Master Gardener workshops plus a special Wildflowers of Sonoma County talk, the Jubilee Klezmer Ensemble, classical guitarist Peter Fletcher, and much more.

Sonoma County Teen Idol is coming to your local library.  Get your singing voice on because we are giving away prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places at the participating library branches.  The winner at each branch will go on to compete for $200 at the Central Library.  Ages 12 -19 only. We’ve been working on making your library easier to use!  Before, if you checked out a book, a CD, and a DVD, they’d all be due back on different days.  To make this a little simpler, we changed our policies so all library materials check out for three weeks.  Everything checked out the same day is due back the same day.  Here are links to all our new policies.

Also, if you have library fines or fees, you can pay online using your credit or debit card.   Here are details about the Pay Online feature.

Our catalog of downloadable audiobooks now includes selected titles in MP3 format for both PC and Mac.  As time goes on, and our budget allows, we will be adding more MP3 titles.

Forms and instructions for basic state and federal tax returns are available in Library branches.

Volunteer tax preparers will also be available in some libraries between early February and April. Check with your local Library to find out if volunteers are scheduled there.

This year, you can help your community by helping someone learn to read. Volunteer as a literacy tutor with the Sonoma County Library Adult Literacy Program. To become a Literacy tutor you will need to attend an orientation and a workshop training. The next orientation is Wednesday, January 14 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Central Library, Santa Rosa.
