Sebastopol Library update

The "Express Library" provides limited library service at the Youth Annex of the Sebastopol Community Center through today, May 11.

From Saturday, May 12 to Tuesday, May 15, the Express Library will be moving and no library service will be available.

The Express Library will re-open in the rear of the Sebastopol Regional Library. It will be accessible from the driveway at the back of the building. A book return will be available to use at all times.

The opening is slated for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, if the needed permits are issued on schedule. Any changes or delays will be posted on the Sebastopol Regional Library page.

What’s new in what’s old: sharing stories in new ways

We love to collect and share the stories of Sonoma County through our thousands and thousands of old photographs, maps, postcards, and other treasures of Sonoma County's past. Now, highlights of these collections are just a mouse click away with our newest digital projects:

Sonoma Heritage Collections – flip through albums of photographs and maps from our Local History collections, historical materials from our Wine Library, and photos from the Sonoma County Archives and the Sonoma County Fair.

Sonoma County Local History - our newest blog features highlights from our photo collections, with historical notes.

Browse through history from the early days of the wine industry, to early film shoots in the county, to architectural gems that still stand. Share your story, too! Let us know if you have the inside scoop on these mystery photos.

Library Commission to discuss fines and fees

Come and make your voice heard!

The Library Commission will discuss possible increases in library fines and fees at its May 7 meeting. The topic is on the agenda for 7 p.m. at the Rohnert Park-Cotati Regional Library.

This discussion is the time for people to make their views known on paying more, including higher fines for overdue items and potential fees for requesting items.

The Commission will not take action on Monday night but action may be taken in the future.

Dine With the Authors

Please join us Saturday, April 21 for an evening of fine wine, food and conversation with Bay Area authors to benefit the Sonoma County Library system and the Sonoma County Book Festival. Wine, hors d'oevre, book signing start at 6:15 p.m.; dinner at 7:30 p.m. Central Library, Santa Rosa. Tickets through Brown Paper Tickets.

The Big Read!

The Big Read is here! Join us in this countywide reading program as we read and discuss Rudolfo Anaya's classic Bless Me, Ultima.

Events at the Library and elsewhere are planned all during March in celebration of this community read.

Sonoma Valley Library reopens in March

The Sonoma Valley Regional Library will reopen in its refurbished quarters at 755 West Napa Street in Sonoma on Tuesday, March 20, at 10:00 a.m.

The Temporary Library in Burlingame Hall at the First Congregational Church will close on Saturday, March 10, at 4:00 p.m.

Tax forms and tax help

Tax forms are starting to arrive at the libraries, but we are still awaiting 1040 forms and instructions. Update February 10: 1040 forms and instructions have started to arrive! Check with your local library branch to find out if they have them yet. You can always visit the Tax Forms & Information section on our website for links to download Federal and State tax forms.

Free help with your taxes is available at selected libraries and other locations in Sonoma County, now till April. Find links to the schedules in our Tax Forms & Information section.

SuperSearch No Longer Available

The SuperSearch system has failed and is not expected to be repaired.

Since we can no longer use SuperSearch, which provided online access to search and request items from other North Bay libraries, we are temporarily handling all requests manually. You may still submit your request online, using this new form.

We hope to have a replacement system in place soon, but do not have an estimate yet on when it would be available.
