Recently some Kashaya Pomo have come to me, seeking a copy (apparently out there somewhere) of the original 1817 agreement that was made between the Russians (Hagemeister, etc.) and their elders, allowing the Russians use of that territory. Apparently the translated text is in CA History, Vol. LIX, No 4, Winter 1980-81, PP. 307-313. Maybe elsewhere. And I've found the printed Russian text. But they say there was a copy of the original document floating around, even printed in a Santa Rosa newspaper some years ago. How can I find that?
