Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Review by Sandra, Central Branch

Katsa is graced with the ability to kill........

In a world where the graced are marked by two different colored eyes as well as a superhuman skill, Katsa is graced with the ability to kill.  From the age of eight she is used by her uncle the king to ensure obedience in his subjects.  When Katsa rescues the grandfather of a Leonid Prince she meets a person graced with a skill more dangerous than her own.

I liked the characters especially Katsa and how she grows into her full potential by the end of the story.  This is an interesting and fun read for anyone who likes adventure, fantasy and intrigue.  Its a fast paced story that will keep you engaged and desperate for the next book.  The second book Fire is a prequal/companion novel to Graceling.  The third book Bitterblue, a continuation of the Graceling story that focuses on the character Bitterblue, will be coming out soon.
