Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

Lina is a young teenager who endures deportation and other horrifying ordeals during World War II.  She is taken by Soviets in Lithuania.

I picked it up because I never knew about Soviet deportation and cruelty towards citizens of the Baltic States and I was interested.

I finished it because Sepetys writes beautifully and the action never stops.  I had to know what happened to the characters.

I'd recommend it to teens and up who like historical fiction.
