I have a whole load of good novels for you to read but I’m not sure if they are your taste or not but here goes all of them are run, do not walk to the store and get ‘em reads: Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, History of Love by Nicole Krauss, What is the What by Dave Eggers. You’ve prabobly already read The Help. Also loved The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Kite Runner, and The Professor and the Madman. Oh I’ve got more if you want ‘em don’t even get me started!
