    Tuesday, June 4, is the first day to sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Program!  We have a new game card this year where you earn stamps and prizes.  We still want book reviews and will be giving out raffle tickets again this year.  Each branch will be giving away a kindle for the raffle prize – so make sure you read lots of books and collect those tickets!

2013 Teens’ Top Ten Nominations

YALSA (the Young Adult Library Services Association) has just announced this year's list of nominations for the Teen's Top Ten contest for 2013!

Teen book groups across the country have nominated their choices for this list, and now YOU, the teens of America, have until the end of summer to read, read, read them, in preparation for the VOTE.  During the months of August and September, voting is open (don't worry, we'll remind you).  Then the WINNERS of the Teens Top Ten will be announced during Teen Read Week in October.  Start reading today so you can have your say in August!

As she deals with this struggle, her limits are tested as she discovers how far she will go to help the souls and herself.

When you kiss an enchanted animal, or in this case- a frog, the enchanted will return to his true self. What Sunday doesn’t know is that if she kisses him, her life will change forever.

Book description: Justin talks about how his life changed just  by putting up a video on Youtube.

I picked this book because I am a fan of his and it counted for the reading bingo. I finished the book because I found it interesting to read and would recommend it to all my friends.

Miles to go by Miley Cyrus ; with Hilary Liftin – 4 stars
Review by: Elena, 7th grade

This biography talks about the life of singer/actress, Miley Cyrus, beginning with her birth and until reaching age 16.

Why I picked it up: …because it seemed interesting;

I finished it: because it was worth reading.

I'd recommend this to a teenage friend.

Teen Read – Book Reviews

 The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
Review by Angie
Brief Description:   The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks is a classic romance novel featuring Allie and Noah, two people who were meant to be together. 
Why I picked it up:  Several of Nicholas Sparks' novels have been made into movies.
Why I finished it:  I wanted to see if the movie stayed true to the novel.
I'd recommend it to:  Anyone looking for a heart-warming tale to pass the time.

Cross my Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter
Review by Carolina
Brief Description:  Cammie tries to figure out exactly who the Blackthorne boys are.  She also tries to get over her ex, Josh.
Why I picked it up:  It was the sequel to one of my favorite books.
Why I finished it:  because I had to find out who caused Code Black.
I'd recommend it to:  My 12-year old sister aka my twin.

 Unwind by Neal Shusterman
Review by Charley
Brief Description:  A world where teens (13 to 18) are used for spare parts in operations to save others who were worth more.  Unwinding is living forever in other people.
Why I picked it up:  I had a friend recommend it.
Why I finished it:  I couldn't stop reading.  I had to find out what happened.
I'd recommend it to:  Fans of the Hunger Games and Uglies.
