DESCRIPTION:             The Tree and the Donkey Who Wanted To Sing           The musical duo Cascada de Flores will perform a program entitled The Tree and the Donkey Who Wanted to Sing at the Petaluma Regional Library on Saturday, November 3, at 2:00 p.m. Designed for adults and teens, this program is being presented by the Library as part of Petaluma’s 2012 El Dia de los Muertos celebration. 	At the performance, Cascada de Flores will tell the beautiful story The Tree and the Donkey Who Wanted to Sing through voice and traditional Mexican music and dance. The telling of the story will be both participatory and bilingual. 	The Cascada de Flores duo is comprised of Arwen Lawrence and Jorge Liceaga. Arwen Lawrence is vocalist, dancer, and player of traditional Mexican rhythm guitars. Her special attention to poetry, emotion and phrasing has won her acclaim as one of the favorite interpreters of Mexican song and bolero of her contemporaries. Jorge Liceaga is a man of many hats. He is guitarist (flamenco, tres, guitarra de son), composer, arranger, children's music composer and educator and culinary phenomenon. An artist in musical communication, Jorge is possibly the best accompanist of Flamenco dance and Latin American song in the San Francisco Bay area.	Sing Out! Magazine has said, “Cascada de Flores explores the musical traditions of Mexico and the Caribbean with grace and sensitivity. Their music is strongly rooted in folkloric forms, yet they steer clear of anachronistic mimicry of the past, instead interpreting their repertoire in their own subtle way. The result is rich, delicate, and lovely."             The performance by Cascada de Flores will be presented in the Helen Putnam Community Room of the Petaluma Regional Library which is located at 100 Fairgrounds Drive in Petaluma. The program is being sponsored by the Friends of the Petaluma Library and the public is invited to attend the program free of charge.
