Doug Stout, (24 Sep 1923 - 31 Jul 2007), native of Fresno, taught at San Francisco State and then retired to Healdsburg in 1976. He championed the literary arts, helping form writers groups, writing and publishing poetry and becoming Healdsburg's first Literary Laureate. For decades he brought his box of local authors' books to the Healdsburg Farmers Market. His sign "Local Literary Produce" heralds the Stout Collection of local authors in Healdsburg Library.
