Borrowing
Library Materials
The Ins and Outs of Borrowing
The normal loan period is 28 days. New and high demand materials, sound
recordings, and periodicals, have loan periods of 14 or 7 days. Videocassettes
are loaned for 7 days.
You will find limits on the number of books you can check out on one
subject: these limits vary from library to library, depending on their
collection.
Charges for overdue, lost, or damaged materials are listed
on the Schedule of Fines and Costs.
You can return your library materials to any public library in
Sonoma County. Bookdrops are available at all outlets for your convenience. List
of library branches
You may use the public access computers in the Library or your
home computer to check on the current status of your library
card and your reserves and to renew your renewable
materials. By entering your library card number and telephone you
can find out which items you have and which, if any, are overdue,
and see if you owe any fines or other charges. Renewable library
materials may be renewed twice.
The staff at the check-in
desk will handle any fines, changes of address, renew expired cards,
and answer your questions before you enter the check-out line. This
will decrease everyone's time at the check-out point.
Library cards expire every three years. In order to renew your
card, you will have to pay all your fines and fees.
