The measure would impose a 1/8 cent sales tax to be used exclusively to supplement existing funding for library operations, programs, acquisitions, construction and modernization throughout the incorporated and unincorporated territory of the County.
A new joint powers agreement (JPA) for the governance of the Sonoma County Library is effective August 1, 2014. This agreement was the result of a months-long review and negotiation process with participation from governments and citizens throughout the county.
With the revised JPA, the Library Commission was restructured and expanded. The membership of the Library Commission is listed on the Library Commissioners page.

The Library will host a public forum to introduce the finalists for the Library Director position. The forum will be held on Thursday, April 3, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Forum Room of the Central Library at 211 E Street in downtown Santa Rosa. The public will have an opportunity to meet the candidates during a brief reception following the meeting.
