Millie Howie Courtyard
Millie Howie (1922-2011) founded the Sonoma County Wine Library and helped build the Healdsburg Regional Library. After a pioneering career in San Francisco broadcasting, she became one of the first public relations professionals in the North Coast wine industry. She helped found the Russian River Wine Road (now simply The Wine Road) out of which came the impetus for the Sonoma County Wine Library. She worked tirelessly to make the new Healdsburg Library building a reality and with it the Wine Library. She was a columnist for the Healdsburg Tribune for over 30 years, wrote for dozens of wine and other publications, edited and published her own magazine, authored several books. As a Library Commissioner she helped steer the library through troubled times.
