    Celebrate the generations of African Americans who have influenced and enriched our nation and society during Black History Month.

The Sonoma County Library is proud to celebrate Black History Month by offering a variety of events and curating displays and resources for residents of Sonoma County. Enjoy as we pay tribute by celebrating and learning about the generations of African Americans who have influenced and enriched our nation and society.

Since 1976, the month of February has been designated Black History Month, or National African American History Month, and is a time to recognize, celebrate, and honor the rich and diverse history of African Americans.

The month-long celebration includes programs and events for Children & Families, Teens, and Adults. The Library will feature the following:

"Who am I?" Challenge
Come test your knowledge and learn something new! Our Black History Month Challenge will be available the month of February in the Children's Room.

African American Folktales with Kirk Waller

Join master storyteller Kirk Waller as he performs stories and songs that explore African and African American culture and history. For children ages 5 and up.
