Are you looking for a way to make a huge difference to the children in your community? Have we got the opportunity for you!
In summer 2019, the Sonoma County Library will serve free lunches to children ages 0-18 through a partnership with the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Our library sites are eligible to participate if the closest public school to a library has more than 50% of its students eligible for free and reduced lunch during the school year. Children who are eligible to receive a free lunch at school each day often go hungry when school is out during the summer. Summer meal programs like Lunch at the Library help ensure that these hungry children are fed.
We are recruiting volunteers to assist with distributing lunches to children at the 8 library sites that will offer this service in 2019:
- Are you available during weekday lunchtime hours in the summer?
- Do you have the physical ability to help set up, count and serve lunches, monitor and clean up before, during and after lunch?
- Do you enjoy working with children?
If so, please contact the person below at the branch where you would like to participate. Volunteers like you can make a huge difference to the children in our community.
This is a great opportunity for TEEN VOLUNTEERS as well - help your community, get community service hours, and get free lunch too!
