You may use the free internet and public computers at any Sonoma County Library location.
How do I complete an online application?
When you find a job through CalOpps that you want to apply for, click the “Apply for job” button. Fill out the application completely and accurately. Make sure to complete all sections; incomplete applications will not be considered. Check to see that all your information is correct before submitting your application. You will get a confirmation email same day.
I attached my resume – do I still need to fill out the CalOpps application?
Yes, a complete application is required. You may attach a resume, but you must fill out the Work Experience section of the application as well. Be sure to list all relevant experience that would qualify you for the position.
What happens after I apply for a job?
After a recruitment closes (or on the posted First Review date), all applications are reviewed for the minimum qualifications listed in the job posting and requirements specific to the position. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications may be asked to complete online assessments, then a decision is made who will be invited to interview. Invitations for assessments or interviews will be sent via CalOpps. Check your email to ensure you receive emails from CalOpps in a timely manner.
Candidates may be interviewed by one or more panels before a final decision is made. All candidates who apply will be notified of the outcome.
How long does it take to complete an application?
Online submittals can be a lengthy process. To best prepare, review the job opening information, standard application, supplemental or prequalification questionnaires, and have an updated personal profile completed, before you start filling in an application. If you plan to attach a cover letter or resume, have those documents ready ahead of time.
What are supplemental questionnaires?
Some recruitments require applicants to complete a set of questions with the submittal of their application. If a job posting has supplemental questions, it is a good idea to review them before completing the application. Supplemental questions are listed on the View Job listing details page.
What is the close date?
The close date is the last day you can apply for a job opening. All applications must be completed and submitted prior to 5:00 pm that day. Take this into consideration when you apply for a position, and plan ahead so you have enough time to complete the application.
